According to local authorities in southern Zabul province of Afghanistan, at least 16 people were killed and nearly 28 others were injured following a traffic incident.
Provincial security chief, Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lewanai said the incident took place on Tuesday morning in Shahr-e-Safa district.
In the meantime, district police chief Sardar Mohammad Jan Rasoulyar said the incident took place after a van collided with a bus on Kabul-Kandahar highway.
Rasoulyar further added preliminary reports suggest at least 16 people were killed and 28 others were injured following the incident.
He said a number of women and children were also among those killed or injured in today’s traffic incident.
This comes as deputy interior minister Gen. Ayub Salangi earlier said at least 8 people were killed and 38 others were injured following a traffic incident in Shahr-e-Safa district.
Today’s incident was one of the deadliest in southern Zabul province of Afghanistan during the recent years.
